Rob Cooney founded Preferred Painting in 1992 with a simple philosophy: do great work, treat people right, and the business will follow. Thirty-plus years later, that philosophy hasn't changed — and neither has the team's commitment to it.
Under Chris Miller's leadership as President, we've grown from a painting-only contractor to a full-service commercial surfaces company. In 2024 we acquired Stonetec, adding concrete polishing, stone restoration, and specialty surface capabilities that no other painting contractor in Colorado can match.

Reliable scheduling is the foundation of our reputation. When we say we start Monday, we start Monday. We communicate proactively if anything changes.
We charge what we quoted
Fixed-price quotes, period. No surprise change orders, no scope creep billed at the end. What we quote is what you pay, unless you ask us to do something different.
We leave it cleaner
End-of-day cleanup is not optional. Drop cloths, masking, overspray — all gone before we leave. Your tenants should barely know we were there.
No subcontracted labor
Every person on your job site is a Preferred Painting employee. We interview them, train them, and stand behind their work. No day-labor surprises.
We communicate every step
Daily progress updates, proactive problem-solving, and a single point of contact who knows your project inside and out. You'll never have to chase us for a status update.
Licensed, bonded, insured
Full general liability, workers' compensation, and contractor bonding. EPA Lead-Safe certified. You're protected, and so are your tenants.
